The default density is an editable planning value of 1.4 tons per cubic yard. Aggregate type, gradation, compaction, and moisture can materially change actual weight; use the supplier’s stated density when available.

How much does a cubic yard of gravel weigh?
It varies by material and moisture. A planning value around 1.3 to 1.5 tons per cubic yard is common, but your supplier should provide a more accurate density.
Should I add extra gravel?
Yes. Add material for compaction, grading, uneven ground, and delivery tolerance.
